Eye Opening Experience

Today was a very interesting day to say the least. I went with North Star to the home of a lady that hoards things. She and her husband, who passed away recently, had been collecting things to put in the house that they were building together. On her property, of which we guessed was about 20 acres or so, she had 22 dogs, 1 cat, 12 or so chickens, and three horses. Talk about a bunch of animals! We did some work on weed eating and taking care of burn piles. My job though, was to clean up the horse droppings that were in the road so that no one else would walk in them. I became very frustrated that I had this job – why did I have to do this? Why couldn’t this lady clean up the droppings of her own animals? I found myself in a very negative and judgmental mood. But then a verse came to mind. Matthew 25:40. “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Why was I such in a grouchy mood? I was scooping poop for Jesus. I should be happy and glad to be doing this because I was doing it for Jesus. It’s amazing how much our mindset can affect the things we do, and how well we do them.
