A Pandemic Reflective Prayer

As we continue to face the COVID-19 pandemic, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how my life has changed. In a time where it has been so easy to be fearful and discouraged, it is also too easy to lose sight of God and His work in our lives. I have combined a lot of the questions I have been asking myself over the last few months, and have formed them into a reflective conversation with God to share with you in hopes that it might encourage and strengthen you.  – Abbey Jo

Find a quiet space to pray. Choose somewhere that you are comfortable and at ease.

Focus on your breathing.

Take a deep breath in. Now a deep breath out.

Slowly count to ten, continuing deep breaths, and close your eyes to focus in on reflection and prayer.

As you begin to pray, ask God to draw Himself near to you. Ask for Him to open your heart to see His presence in your life and that you may explore your thoughts, feelings and reactions.

Think back to the beginning of the pandemic.

How did you feel? How was your relationship with God at this moment?

Did you ever feel scared or anxious? What calmed you?

Were there any blessings in disguise?

How have you connected with others? How have others connected with you?

What are things that you took for granted prior to the pandemic?

What are things that you thought you could not live without, that you have now realized you can live without?

How have your relationships with your family changed? Your co-workers?

How have your priorities changed?

What have been the hardest moments you faced? Did God provide people in your life to help you get through these moments?

Where have you unexpectedly experienced joy?

What are the moments you do not want to forget from this time?

How has God been at work in your life? Have you thanked Him?

How is your relationship with God now? Do you feel drawn towards Him?

What are you doing to reflect God’s love into the world?

Is there anything you want to ask of God for the coming weeks and months?

Father, I ask that you are with me as the world continues to face COVID-19. I pray for the health of my family, my friends, my neighbors, my co-workers, my enemies, those I do not know, and myself. Guide me as I navigate ways to love and protect my neighbors. Remind me of the blessings You have given me, and when abundance flows, to share with those in need. Lord, I am grateful to be alive today. Be with those who are fighting for their lives against COVID-19, comfort them so that they may feel Your love. Lord, we need You. Let me radiate Your light to others. Amen.
